"What's your major?"
"Sports Administration and Psychology!"
"Oh....so you're a liberal arts major?"
Yes, I am a student of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and there is nothing wrong with that. Yet, in today's college culture, if you're not a science, engineering, or business student, then what are you doing with your life? You must be in college for the good times, the experience, the parties, and since you chose to be a CLASS student, the lack of work.
That is absolutely incorrect. Yes, I want to experience college but there is nothing easy about my major or the college that I am in. In fact, liberal arts students are some of the hardest working students I know. Just because it's not seen as a "difficult" major choice by today's society doesn't mean that it's easy.
We have to take 3 separate classes within CLASS (this is on top of our core requirements and major requirements), we have tiresome papers that seem to be stacking up, we have to interpret and figure out any underlying meanings that an author or artist put in their book or art piece. Most of us are double majors as well, so that adds onto our course load. AND if you're doing a Bachelor of Science, guess what? we still have to take all 8 credit hours of science just like the rest of y'all to satisfy degree requirements.
I do believe that engineering, the natural science and mathematics, and business majors have it rough too. I'm not discrediting y'all's majors at all. All I want to draw attention to is that our majors are difficult too, so we would it appreciate it if you could stop saying that we have it easy.
I love being a liberal arts major. I have had the chance to take an Art History class, maybe I'll go take an Intro to Music Video Dance class, but I also have to take my biology and statistics classes. I can't wait to take my science classes because I know that I have friends that are better at science and are willing to help me if I need them to. And they know that I would do the same for them. So let's not tear one major down over another. Each one of us has a calling and is drawn towards different things, so let's respect one another and change the way that everyone thinks about Liberal Arts majors.

"Oh....so you're a liberal arts major! That's great!"
