Change. I Dare You.

Stop settling. Do something a little different for once.

Change. I Dare You.

Change is something that I always found terrifying.

If something was different or out of the ordinary I would flip. Go bananas. Have a cow. S*** a brick. For me comfort and routine were blissful. I was able to stay on track and be fully aware of what was to come.

I'm not sure what bomb went off inside of me, but I am no longer this way. In fact my complete loathing for change transformed into an passionate love and adoration.

I began to see how everything I loved in my comfort zone and my routine was predictable, yet ironically, nothing in life is more predictable than change. So this was the moment when I began to embrace change, a decision that has improved my life tremendously.

The instant something changes we all experience discomfort and a feeling of being lost. And yes, we will make mistakes, and we will screw up often--very often--but Billy Joel was right in his song "Vienna." As he said, "Only fools are satisfied".

Yes, it can be scary to step out of our five mile radius, to branch out from our comfort zones, and to try something new, but how will we ever know what could come out of taking these risks if we don't take them every now and again?

That's right. We won't. And, there's no point in living a life of "what if's."

Taking at least one little risk every day is a perfect way to get more comfortable with change. It allows us to see what wonderful things can come from embracing a "switcharoo" every once in a while.

We are seriously disturbed if we think that people don't change. With time comes change and the more we willingly embrace this inevitable life circumstance, the more fulfilled we will be.

I am by no means the same person that I once was as a toddler, as an awkward middle schooler, or a high schooler, or heck, even the person I was yesterday.

I may have had stronger times than others, but I have loved who I was every step of the way because each time frame in my life helped clarify who and what I wanted to be the next day.

After all, the only person we should try to be better than, is the person we were yesterday.

Heck! If it wasn't for change there would be no such thing as Transformation Tuesdays, and I think we are all extremely grateful for those.

Change. Embrace it with an open mind and do it for yourself. You deserve it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
