Things I Wish Would Change in American Society

I have a feeling I am not the only one who feels this way.

Things I Wish Would Change in American Society

There are different things that I notice about our society as Americans, and honestly, America is not great anymore. We are a country full of bull headed idiots who somehow cannot figure out how to just work together and actually do something great for once.

1. No one can seem to work together

There are so many people that I see that constantly argue and can never seem to get a single task done. Group members argue over the stupidest things and it can be so frustrating as a person who just wants to get the task done and over with. If people did not talk so much and actually listened to what other members had to say, there wouldn’t be as many arguments and things would actually get done.

2. You cannot say something without someone getting butt hurt

It is so hard to make a joke or be hard on someone without the other crying and calling it a hate crime. The last time I checked, it was not bad for someone to make a joke. People need to grow up and learn to take a joke or constructive criticism. That is just what we do.

3. We cannot come together as a society

Take for example this past election. Sure, no side is ever going to agree, but fighting for hatred with violence is only causing more problems! The world needs to have less hate and we need to just get what we get and not throw a fit. We all need to grow the hell up and work together like adults.

4. People go on rants about things they do not even research

If one more person rants about something that they do not know anything about, I will flip my lid. The next time someone tries to rant about something they do not fully grasp, do not question why I freak out on you. Do your homework.

5. Accusations are flying everywhere

We are all not liars or cheaters or “rats”. Sometimes I wish people would slow down and actually take a look at people and learn all of the facts before they go and accuse someone. This applies everywhere, the workplace, in public or at home.

6. And no one is entitled to anything

So many people walk around thinking that everything is theirs and no one else deserves anything. I see so many children that are raised thinking that the world owes them everything and it is not okay. No one deserves anything and there are hard working Americans that work for everything they have. Try it sometime.

I know this article will get a lot of hate, and it is not geared towards any certain person or persons. I just think that this is something that people can relate to and it is things that I have noticed that I hope someone other than me wants to fix. Rant over.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
