How Chance The Rapper Is Changing The Rap Game

After seeing Chance the Rapper in concert this past Thursday at George Mason University, I could really understand what all of the hype was behind this Chicago, IL rapper. He is a rapper who is revolutionizing the world of rap in a new a creative way. He is bringing rap to new places by singing about music that sounds great and has meaningful lyrics as well. The three main reasons why I think he is so unique are listed below.

1. All his music is free.

Chance the Rapper has a view toward record labels that they are useless and unnecessary. Therefore, he has gone on his own and created and published his music through mixtapes. These mixtapes have then been distributed to other sources such as Soundcloud and Youtube. Thus, he has gotten around signing with a record label and created a new way to make music without monetizing the amount of downloads or listens.

2. His music has positive lyrics.

Songs such as "How Great" and "Blessings" are very uplifting and show a very pleasant view of the world and society. He speaks about how great God is and how he is very close and respectful of others. In addition, the beats of most of the songs from Coloring Book are very motivating and increase my mood whenever I listen to them. The album has a feeling of joy from the begging with the intro featuring Kanye West speaking about the importance of music until the end with "Blessings".

3. His concerts are worth the money.

If you want to see Chance in concert, you are going to have to buy tickets in advance. Tickets to his concerts usually are not very expensive. However, he does sell out arenas quickly. Therefore, I would recommend buying from the venue when they become available. These concert tickets are worth it as the concert is very enjoyable. You get to hear many of his old hits from Acid Rap as well as new hits from Coloring Book which get the crowd going crazy. Many parts of the concerts are interactive where Chance comes very close to the crowd or he talks to his audience. This makes the concert much more fun than a typical one.

To conclude, I believe that Chance the Rapper has been able to change the way rap can be conveyed. He has shown rap critics that the genre can feature positive songs with meaningful lyrics. In addition, he has filled the monetized rap game with free music for everyone whenever. These reasons are why I think Change the Rapper has created a new look for the genre of rap.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
