It's that time of the year again. College Football's most hectic weekend: championship weekend.
After weeks of battling it out, the top teams from each side of every conference will duke it out to see who can call themselves conference champions. As expected, the stakes are high this weekend, with teams playing for their survival in the race to be one of the four teams in the College Football Playoff.
They're a total of eight conference championships being decided this coming weekend, but the "Power-5" (and the Big 12) conferences will be the ones to focus on.
So who will raise their conference trophy?
Here's who you should expect to show up and show out on championship weekend:
PAC12
#9 Colorado vs #5 Washington
The Washington Huskies have been impressive all season long and have been the class of the Pac12 from start to finish. With a seasoned Jake Browning in place at the season's start, the Huskies had pretty big expectations and were one of the favorites to take home the conference trophy.
Well, Browning and the gang have been as good as advertised and should be able to take care of a surprisingly strong Colorado team. Colorado will continue to play with the chip on its shoulder as it has done all year, but they just won't have enough to slow down Browning. USC has proved to be the only team successful in slowing Browning down (and ironically enough was the only team to give both of these championship contenders a loss).
The Huskies strong defense should halt Colorado's magical season. This matchup is a case of "anything you can do, I can do better," as Washington trumps Colorado in all three phases of the game.
Washington wins comfortably 28-17 and should lock up a playoff spot.
BIG 12 (Unofficial Championship Game)
#8 Oklahoma vs #10 Oklahoma State
Once again, the Bedlam Series is the unofficial Big 12 championship game. While this game probably won't be seen as a playoff play-in game, you never know what can happen in the world of college football.
That being said, this game features two very strong offenses, led by Davey O'Brien finalist and Heisman hopeful Baker Mayfield and the talented Mason Rudolph. This game will be full of fireworks, but when the game is on the line, don't be surprised to see the "Mayfield to Westbrook" connection being called. This duo has been unstoppable and leads the Sooners to an undefeated season in conference play.
Sooners win 44-35.
SEC
#1 Alabama vs #15 Florida
This is a no-brainer. Alabama controls from start to finish 35-6. No explanation needed. No picture needed. Roll Tide.
Big 10
#6 Wisconsin vs #7 Penn State
The Big 10 has been the most impressive conference all season long, and the championship game shouldn't disappoint. These two programs, who always have loads of talent, but have underperformed in recent years, finally put that talent together and have had excellent seasons.
Wisconsin is bak to the physical, defensive-minded unit that we have come to be accustomed to, while Penn State has largely been balanced and has found ways to win close games and have also won in blowout fashion. Both teams are battle-tested, but this seems like a year of destiny for Penn State.
The Big 10 title returns to Nittany Nation 24-17.
ACC
#4 Clemson vs Virginia Tech
Clemson should win this game comfortably. Virginia Tech should give it their all, but no real talking points here as Clemson is the overwhelming favorite.
Clemson solidifies its playoff spot 42-20.
Non-Power Conf.
MAC: Western Michigan over Ohio 38-24
C-USA: W.Kentucky over La. Tech 55-52
AAC: Temple over Navy 31-27
MWC: San Diego State over Wyoming 34-21
