Let's pull no punches, we all know that the internet has a reputation for being not exactly the kindest place. And as many cosplayers have personally experienced, that goes double if you're plus sized. For some reason, our nerdy little micro-chasm of a community has turned into the same dichotomy we were seeking refuge from: the hot, versus the not. And what's hot is very, very, very narrowly defined.

That's why it's important to feature those who are overweight, fat, plus sized or anyone out of the "straight size" category. There are surprisingly few pages that do this, and they usually appear as tiny sub-communities of our already small sub-communities. That's some inception level fringe groupage. And as if we needed to throw another wrench into the mix, many of these pages are more fat fetishizing, than celebrating cosplayers. And if you need an explanation of what the difference is between those... well that's a whole 'nother article.

Big Beautiful Cosplayers (BBC for short) is one such amazing group that respects the talent and bravery it takes to dare to put yourself in the public eye while not being shamed about your size. Or heaven forbid, celebrating it and feeling comfortable rocking out a character borne of fiction. Founded by Morgan Le Gay, a plus size cosplayer known for her Bombshell Iron Man, BBC currently boasts a wide following on both Instagram and facebook. BBC features cosplayers of every gender, ethnicity, skill level and sex appeal. In fact, sexiness isn't a consideration for being featured at all, unlike many cheesecake specific blogs.

But BBC isn't only a spotlighting tool, the page models that helm it -along with their leader Morgan- run panels and tutorials ranging from Armor 101 to pattern altering, to how to survive as a plus size cosplayer in a thin-centric world. They travel to conventions across the east coast and are hoping to expand as their following also grows. These brand ambassadors aren't your booth babes of yesteryear either; they run the gambit on size, specialty and gender.

Sharon Rose Cosplay

Armoress extraordinaire, Sharon Rose Cosplay has touched on everything from Disney, to Marvel. Whether she's sporting red, white and blue as Fem Captain America, or Black and Green as the villainous (but perfect) Shego, her builds are crisp and well fitted.

Big Mike Cosplay

As if Netflix's Jessica Jones wasn't enough to make us fall in love with Luke Cage, Big Mike's got that covered. Mike has had the unique perspective of being both plus-sized and straight-sized man of color in the cosplay world, which largely favors thin, white women. Specializing in heroes from this universe to the next, he's definitely someone to keep on your radar.

Miss Gotham Cosplay

Running the gambit from intense armor builds with Saber, to romping around as a rambunctious Harley, Miss Gotham cosplay is here to have a ton of fun, and look good while doing it. She is a huge proponent of body positivity and a great force in the community.

Gabby Nu Cosplay

Cute as a button and twice as useful, Gabby Nu cosplay is a pint sized power house of the BBC cosplay family. She is an East Coast cosplayer who travels to conventions around the country, debuting new costumes that focus on her creativity and precise attention to detail. She loves to cosplay variations of characters that are rarely done, or create gender-bend and original designs of characters she loves -- such as a Battle Armor Sailor Mars and Fem!Ryuk from Death Note. Some of her cosplay tutorials have been featured on IGN.com, and she has appeared in various cosplay magazines such as We Rise Mag and CosPlayNYC.

Tom Catt Cosplay

The self proclaimed Queen of Cosplay specializes in drag and genderbending. Whether he's cracking his wiles as the sinful Catwoman or casting spells and teaching girls about body language as the infamous Ursula, He stands proudly as an ambassador of divinity and deliciousness. He also enjoy cosplaying as the late, great, Bea Arthur in various mash ups and cosplays. Due to his over the top personality, booming voice, and Amazonian stature, he is often referred to the con mother of all con mothers. Long may he reign.

And last but not least, yours truly.

You'll find out plenty about me in the coming months, but here are a couple pictures of me. I like big, dramatic, super inconvenient stuff.

So stay tuned and follow them on social media for your daily dose of positivity, tutorials, and general camaraderie. Or even better, join us on our mission to help everyone feel comfortable in their own skin -even if that skin is painted bright glue or covered in spirit gum.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

Because we made it, and because high school seniors deserve to know what they're getting themselves into

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Sophia Palmerine

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
