Use this holiday season to benefit and cleanse YOU. I know you are probably buying multiple holiday gifts, so treat yourself by buying the stones below! I am a firm believer in energy healing using nature's gifts. Because I cannot burn anything in my dorm room at school, my bedroom at home is filled with incense and cedar that I burn. Additionally, I have sage in an abalone shell on the top of my dresser. My favorite type of medicine is my collection of healing stones that I have. Here are seven that I recommend buying (one for each chakra), in addition to sage and incense, which are so relaxing, purifying, and refreshing! Each stone has many mental and physical healing properties. You will prosper if your seven chakras always are in balance. Be positive and believe!

Amethyst.

This beautiful purple crystal can be placed on the crown chakra which is located on the top of the head. This chakra is associated with your connection to the universe, spirituality, and optimism. Amethyst calms tension, helps you avoid anger, and be confident. It aids with detoxing and headaches!

Lapis lazuli.

This bright blue crystal can be placed on the brow chakra which is located on the middle of your forehead, above your eyebrows (this spot is commonly known as the "Third Eye"). This chakra is connected to your mind, ideas, and thoughts. It improves your yin and yang balance, aiding relationships. Lapis lazuli promotes expression, wisdom, and dreams. It protects your bones and immune system.

Blue lace agate.

This interesting crystal can be placed on the throat chakra which is on the middle of your throat. This chakra is connected to your communication, freedom, and leadership. It is a very gentle stone that helps you when you are tired. It also improves bone and nail growth.

Rose quartz.

What a gem! This crystal can be placed on the heart chakra or the middle of your chest. This chakra is connected to safety, trust, and love. It heals phobias and unbalanced emotions. It aids with sexual liberation as well!

Citrine.

Citrine heals the solar plexus chakra, which is located at the bottom of your breastbone. This chakra is associated with power, centering, and emotions. Citrine brings wealth and helps you problem-solve. It also benefits your digestive system!

Moonstone.

Maddy Harkness

The moon is one of my favorite things, and the moonstone is my favorite healing crystal. It heals the sacral chakra, which is located right below your belly button. It is associated with your energy, creativity, and connection with others. Moonstone helps with menstrual cramps, blood circulation, habit-breaking, and composure.

Red Jasper.

Maddy Harkness

Red jasper heals your base chakra, which is located at the bottom of your spine. The base chakra is associated with health, survival, and your roots to this earth. Red Jasper helps ease anxiety, ward off sickness, and give you renewing qualities.

I hope people learn from this and buy the stones that will benefit them! I have many, and I have bought them from many local stores. You can even buy them online! Do some research...do your chakras need to be healed? If so, which ones? Balance yourself! You can always meditate with these healing crystals while placing them on your body and breathing. If you do buy any crystals, never forget to cleanse them once in a while, just like they cleanse you. You may do this by placing them in the moonlight, especially during a full moon, or digging a hole outside in the dirt, place them in the hole and cover it with more dirt, and let them purify with Mother Earth for about a week. After you cleanse them choosing, either way, they will be fulfilled with their wonderful properties. Call me a hippy, but this works! Go ahead and heal yourself and your chakras. Although veggies and antioxidants are dandy and all, this crystal healing benefits your complete well-being.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
