The Chainsmoker’s song “Closer” has been all over the radio, frat parties and blasting in every car since summer. It is safe to say this song is a hit and you’ve most likely heard it, even if you’re living under a rock. It has taken over especially in the towns mentioned in it (Tucson and Boulder), making the University of Arizona and CU Boulder more excited than necessary. Even though it might be overplayed on those campuses, we couldn’t resist watching the music video they just dropped. This song is expected to be "beat to death in Tucson" even more now that this steamy video is released. Drew and Halsey are exes who can't seem to shake one another in the video. There is so much tension and passion throughout the entire thing it leaves you dying to know if they end up together.
Post-break-up, she’s rocking a new haircut and “looking pretty in a hotel bar," while he’s kicking himself for letting her go. The music video is a perfect picture of the fire and struggles of young love. If the lyrics don’t already make you hyped and emotional at the same time, the music video pulls it all together. You become emotionally invested in their relationship and it makes you love the song just as much as you did the first time you heard it. It’s almost too seductive to handle with all those stolen mattresses and shoulder tattoos, but it’s too amazing to miss.
