We Need To Stop Idolizing Physically Violent Celebrities Like Kareem Hunt, 6ix9ine, And Chris Brown As Role Models

In recent weeks, this topic has been gaining much notoriety

On November 30, 2018, a video of NFL player Kareem Hunt surfaced. In this video, Hunt kicked a women who was supposedly yelling racial slurs at him as an underage teen trying to get into this party that Hunt was holding. This video and attack occurred in February. IT has been 8 months since that incident and it is just being brought into the eye of the public due to some lying and dishonesty on Hunt's part. This is an outrage and is completely unacceptable as NFL players are supposed to be model citizens and are supposed to represent the best people that have the opportunity to play the sport. Rather we are disappointed and alarmed by Hunt's malice.

Earlier this year, rapper 6ix9ine was convicted on accounts of child sex case and violence in an alternate case. These are they type of people young children are looking up too for inspiration. 6ix9ine is known for his music and his controversial persona but mostly because of his horrible actions as a human. This type of behavior cannot be seen from a person who has so much influence and fame. Rather we should be trying to focus on how to help other people's character instead of trying to make ourselves more famous. This is only hurting us.

Celebrities and people who are famous have a lot of weight to their name and hold a certain degree of power. This allows for them to maneuver inside and outside the law whilst not getting in trouble for their actions. We have to hold the powerful accountable and force them to serve their time so normal every day people can have some faith that every person is equal. Just because a person has a certain power to their name doesn't mean that they have the ability and the choice to be better than the others. No one should be able to decide that unless they are part of a fair jury or a fair group of people to decide the truth.

Chris Brown, the rapper, has been the subject of controversy for a long time. In the 2000s, he got in trouble for domestically abusing Rihanna. But now, due to him staying out of trouble for a couple years, he is seen as reformed person. I think we need to take a step back and look at him with a grain of salt. Yes he might have a daughter now or stay out of trouble, but that doesn't deny the facts that he still abused a woman.

From a moral standpoint, these celebrities are supposed to be the best behaved and influential people. They should use their fame for something else other than trying to get more fame while being morally wrong. This is important to teach as people should not led their star struck attitude stop them from making good decisions. These can affect how people look at them or view their legacy. At the end of the day, everyone around the world looks to these people in times of despair or happiness for guidance or for something to cheer them up.

We must teach people everywhere that they are not above the law and are the same as us everyday normal people. This would make everyone more accountable for their actions and not place them above and certain number of people. That is the equality that must also be fought for. This is how people will be remembered and they should hope to be remembered fondly.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
