Celebrities I've Tweeted At Who Never Responded

Celebrities I've Tweeted At Who Never Responded

Like many others who first enter social media, I initially made a Twitter account in 2012 in hopes of getting closer to (or subtly stalking) my favorite celebrities. I felt the power of the whole internet resting in my thumbs as I held my iPhone 4 as a young, innocent twelfth grader. Many celebrities have heard from me in my brief career as an active Tweeter, but alas, I have heard from none of them in return. Here's a brief list of celebrities that I have reached out to, but have yet to receive a response from.

1. Anthony Rapp

I reached out to the former Mark in the original Broadway cast of RENT when I was in UPS' production last spring. I tweeted him asking for any advice he had on our opening night, hoping to hear some words of encouragement from one of the head honchos himself. Apparently, he didn't have any.

2. Lin-Manuel Miranda

As my current obsession, I tweet him asking if he would be the speaker at our graduation for the class of 2017 at UPS. He hasn't said yes, but he also hasn't said no. I also retweet him at least every day, so he gets another honorable mention for that.

3. Russell Brand

I created a Twitter very shortly after seeing Russell's stand-up special "Messiah Complex," so he was the first person I actually ever followed on Twitter just because he was fresh in my mind. In my first tweet ever, I mentioned him and told him he was the first person I ever followed. I'm sure he cares, even though he didn't make any textual evidence of it.

4. John Mulaney

You'll notice a common theme in who captures my Twitter interest. I don't remember what I said, but I do know that I said something. In return, he said nothing.

5. The NRA

Granted, not exactly a person, but indeed a well known group of people. I tweet them every now and then about how they're a terrorist organization and remind my followers that they make money off of every mass shooting. We have fun.

6. Joe and Nick Jonas

The JoBros and I have a complicated geographic relationship. Every time I enter a city, more likely than not, a Jonas Brother will have just been there playing a concert or filming a promo and will leave on the same day I came. I went to New Orleans last spring for spring break, and Nick Jonas flew to New Orleans the day I left. I flew home from SeaTac Airport back to San Diego this summer two hours before Joe Jonas landed there with DNCE. Nick went to Mammoth Mountain in California to snowboard in the two days leading up to New Year's Eve and then flew out to New York on New Year's Eve. I arrived at Mammoth Mountain on New Year's Eve. Even better, I left Mammoth Mountain on January 2nd, the same day that Nick RETURNED to Mammoth Mountain to CONTINUE snowboarding. It's not fair.

7. Donald Trump

The one who I thought would respond. Can't wait for four more years of internet harrassment!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
