Over the weekend I came across a quote in Glamour magazine that really spoke to me. The line read “There’s No One Right Age to Be Awesome.” This article was written by the editor of Glamour and made significant points about the similarities of different women among different age groups in today's culture. The moral of the article revealed that each woman is unique, important, and has the ability to change the world, no matter what age she is.

I can’t believe how much I resonated with this article. I felt it was too important not to share. My favorite quote about women from the piece read, “There is only one of each of us, but were all in this together.” It is clear to see that over the past few years women have shown their strength whether it be in the media, politics, or everyday life. Younger people aren’t just on the path to becoming leaders, they are leaders right now. Take Emma Watson for example, what an inspirational woman. Emma is not only beautiful and successful but she is smart in choosing her acting roles and brave in the things she wants her characters to portray. The child star of Harry Potter has now made a name for herself in a big way. I mean she graduated from Brown University and is a UN Women's Goodwill Ambassador, among so many other things. It's amazing how women, both young and old, are carrying the torch for our society. There are so many amazing role models for us to look up to. One of my favorites, and I'm sure one of yours, is former First Lady, Michelle Obama. Her accomplishments are incredible. Former FLOTUS launched the “Let’s Move!” campaign to work towards solving the problem of childhood obesity by helping kids be more physically active. She also passed The School Lunch Program which provides meals at a reduced price to low-income children and requires schools to carry healthier options. As our first lady, she was beautiful and gracious all while raising two amazing daughters in one of the most difficult environments. These are just a few of her accomplishments, I think you get the gist. The point is that women of all ages are showing what it truly means to be a powerful woman.

I’m not trying to give anyone a lesson. I’m trying to say that it’s time to celebrate this awesomeness! This is our community, it’s full of people who are important, powerful, exciting, and inspiring. We have to understand how essential these women and women like them are and the impact they are having on our world. The craziest thing about all of this is that we all have the power to BE these women. Times are changing and it is clear that we have the power to do absolutely anything. So let’s do it! Celebrate everything, celebrate your beauty, your uniqueness, your ability to change the world for the better. Let’s make a difference because we can.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
