With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, February is starting to feel like the month for couples. Tinder and Bumble are both bound to get more traffic with the romantic holiday looming ahead, but for those of us who are okay with being single, here are a few ways to celebrate your independence.
Girls (or Guys) Night Out
Gather your best girl and/or guy friends and hit your favorite spots in town be it a bar or a club. Focus on having fun and being in that moment with your friends. As the saying goes, today you’re the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you’ll ever be. You’ve got to make the most of your life and your relationships.
A Self-Date
Despite how silly this sounds, taking yourself on a date can actually be a really nice thing. Treat yourself to dinner at your favorite restaurant and that movie you’ve been dying to see (but haven’t been able to find anyone to see it with). You don’t have to wait for an occasion or even another person to enjoy your favorite places. Just get in your car and make the most of your day.
Take A Class
Recently my mom mentioned going to a Salsa dance class, and I thought it was funny my mom was getting out more than me. There are a lot of new things to learn and some really fun crafts you can do by yourself or with friends. If you like wine and painting, there are classes for that. If you’ve always wanted to learn to play guitar, you can take lessons. These classes are small ways to take time out of your day to do something that’s just for you and your enjoyment.
Pamper Yourself
Everyone needs a good massage or manicure every now and again. Even just a nice bath with something from Lush can help rejuvenate you, especially after a long day or week. It can be hard to break from routine and put time aside for something as self-serving as pampering, but it’s necessary. Spoil yourself because you’re worth the effort.
Cut Yourself Some Slack
Humans aren’t perfect. In fact, we’re far from it. I’m sure I’ve said this is a previous article, but that’s because I know for a fact I don’t do it enough. We all need to cut ourselves a little slack sometimes. Sleep in late, cheat on your diet, reply to that email tomorrow.
Enjoy your singleness while you have it, and the independence that comes with it. If you have any other ideas for making the most of your single status, leave it in a comment down below.
