Some people say that Valentines's Day is a day invented by card companies to make money. Some call it 'Single Awareness Day.' I have always loved it, ever since the days of exchanging Valentine's with elementary classes. I take it as a day to realize how important love really is. How love can come from all corners of a persons life. How many forms it can come in.
Love for a song you can't stop listening to on repeat, the love you have for your pet, the never-ending love for family and friends. The love you had for your first grade teacher, and yes, romantic love too. But most importantly, love for yourself. It's all about the idea that love exists. It's important, especially recently, to realize the power of love and what we can do with that power.
When it seems like everything can crumble at any given moment, or maybe that it already has, love is what gives me strength. It possesses something that is indescribable, something that I don't believe truly only comes around once. It is something that continues to come around, through waves of the different forms that surround us.
Sometimes people need to be reminded that they are loved and that love can be found in almost anything. Whether they are going through something, just having a bad day, or even if nothing is wrong. Being reminded that you are loved is never going to be a bad thing. These are things that should be celebrated every day. But, if one day full of boxes of chocolates or goofy greeting cards encourages doing this, I am more than okay with that.
