Why You Should Celebrate Your Pet's Birthday
Carly Bandy

I know what some of you are thinking, is this girl crazy? Well think what you wish but I actually have a good point. Do you have a pet? Do you love your pet? Does your pet love you unconditionally? Well then, what better to do than show your pet how special they truly are by throwing them a birthday party. You are probably like, "why in the world is this girl celebrating her pet?" Well the real question is why aren't you?

I've had pets growing up my whole life but it wasn't until this past year that I went out, adopted my own pet and have completely raised my little guy by myself. While I still love my pets to death that I've grown up with, my cat that lives with me and I share a different bond since it's just us. Pets are such a gift to us. We truly don't realize how lucky we are to have someone in our lives who will love us no matter what we say or do, and who won't ever be disappointed. To them, we are their whole world. How great is that?

Well it was approaching my cat's birthday and it got me thinking; why not have a small birthday party for him? Some people probably think I've lost my mind and others probably have now started planning their pets next birthday bash.

So set a date for your party, invite your friends who seem to love your pet just as much as you (even though that's not possible), bake a cake, buy some presents and hats and get ready for fun night with your friends and your fur baby.

While they probably won't understand what the hell is going on, they'll probably be super annoyed and you'll definitely be having more fun - your pet deserves a day that is all about them. Go all out, take pictures with them and have fun! Your pet loves you more than you will ever know, and they need a day of pure chaos completely revolving around them!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
