CBD Oil and Your Skin

CBD oil (CBD Isolate) is rapidly gaining traction in the alternative medicine world for its unique properties. Most people who consume CBD oil orally are familiar with the bottles and capsules these products come in. However, CBD has also been incorporated into many topical products for its supposed skin benefits.

Let’s examine the various benefits of CBD oil for the skin and why so many people are adopting these products in their skincare routine.

What is CBD?

Before we get to the benefits of CBD isolate for the skin, it is worth understanding what exactly CBD is. Cannabidiol or CBD is a special compound found in cannabis plants. Hemp and marijuana both contain CBD. However, the CBD in the latter plant is accompanied by high levels of psychoactive THC.

CBD compounds derived from hemp plants contain little to no THC. This makes hemp-derived CBD useful in products such as CBD oils and topicals. Users who use such CBD products can experience the effects of CBD without worrying about the psychoactive effects of THC.

A cannabidiol isolate (CBD Isolate) is a substance often used by people who rely on medical marijuana treatment but would like to avoid potential issues connected with THC. The substance comes in either crystallized or powder form.

How Do CBD Oils Work for the Skin?

As mentioned earlier, most CBD oil users consume this product orally to experience its effects. However, it is possible to apply CBD oil and CBD oil-infused topical products to your skin as well. This application route works because the body contains many cannabinoid receptors under the skin.

This allows users to experience some effects by spreading the CBD product on different parts of their body.

Benefits of CBD for the Skin

People have been using CBD isolates and CBD topical products since they were introduced many years ago. They reach for such products because they believe they may help with specific skin ailments or conditions.

This may be due to CBD’s inherent properties or to get away from using traditional oils, creams, or lotions that contain artificial or less-natural compounds.

Some of the supposed benefits of CBD Isolate for the skin include:

Fighting Infections

Many CBD compounds are believed to possess antibacterial qualities. This discovery has encouraged many people to apply CBD oil topically in the hopes of combating bacterial infections of the skin.

Additionally, others have found that bacteria haven’t developed a resistance to the CBD compounds tested. This means CBD isolates could potentially help fight bacterial infections in situations where antibiotics do not work.

Helping Against Skin Aging and Wrinkles

It’s no secret that the skin undergoes many changes as it ages. Human skin becomes thinner and loses its plump appearance over time.

People also develop wrinkles due to the reduction of their skin elasticity with age. It is believed that this ageing process may also speed up due to oxidative stress. Such stress occurs mainly due to exposure to the Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Studies have found that CBD possesses anti-oxidative properties. This doesn’t necessarily mean that applying CBD can reverse the effects of ageing. However, it may play a role in slowing the natural oxidative effects that skin undergoes with age.

Many people have been reaching for CBD oils and creams under the assumption they will help keep their skin looking young for longer.

Combatting Dry and Itchy Skin

Many people across the globe suffer from dry and itchy skin. This condition is often caused by conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis.

Many skincare products are touted as being able to help soothe the skin and reduce the irritation associated with dry and itchy skin. However, these products may not be suitable for everyone, as certain ingredients may make the issue worse for people with certain skin types.

The good news is that CBD oil possesses anti-inflammatory properties, which may help combat the inflammation associated with these conditions. This may provide a solution for people who suffer from itchy and dry skin but cannot use traditional skincare products.

Helping Against Acne

CBD isolates may also be able to help people suffering from acne. Acne is one of the most common skin conditions that affect millions of people worldwide. It is often caused when the skin produces excessive quantities of a natural oil called sebum. This sebum can clog pores, leading to the creation of pimples.

CBD may help prevent the skin from producing excessive quantities of sebum. This means applying CBD topically could potentially reduce the likelihood of breakouts occurring.

CBD may also help with combating acne scars. Certain types of acne leave the skin with a discoloured scarred appearance once the breakout has ended. One study found that CBD could help reduce the appearance of acne scars. Researchers believe this effect may be due to CBD’s antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory effects.

How to Apply CBD Oil?

Most CBD oils available on the market contain high concentrations of CBD. Attempting to cover a large surface area of skin with these oils would be both difficult and costly. Many people have worked around this issue by mixing CBD oil with another carrier oil, such as coconut oil, before applying it to their skin.

Another solution is to purchase CBD topical products such as CBD ointments and creams, which function on the same principle.

Such ointments and creams contain lower concentrations of CBD but are easy to spread onto the skin.

CBD creams tend to contain equal ratios of water and oil. This gives them a light texture, which is easier for the skin to absorb. CBD ointments tend to be thicker as they contain a higher concentration of oils. Such creams may take longer to be absorbed by the skin.

They also leave the skin with a shiny or greasy appearance.

The studies mentioned above indicate that CBD isolate possesses many properties that may benefit the skin. The CBD market currently contains many topical products such as CBD creams, ointments, and lotions. Prospective users may consider trying out some of these products and seeing if they help with any of their skin ailments.

Researchers are discovering more benefits of CBD every day, so trying these products may help in ways other than just the reasons listed above.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
