A Caution To Christians Attending A Christian College

Beware the 'Christian bubble' and becoming comfortable with it.

I attend a Christian college on the East Coast and it has been an incredible and life changing experience for me. Having the ability to grow and mature in my faith with a few hundred other Christians had been something I will never forget. However, the one caution I have for being a Christian at a Christian college is the 'Christian Bubble'. Be aware of and get out of this bubble you are automatically covered in at a college of your faith. The real world exist and in order to really be understanding and to have the healthy, complete knowledge you need, one must find opportunities to be a part of other things.

I don't say this to scare Christians away from a faith built college but rather to tell you that in order to not be immune to the rest of the world existing you must reach beyond your campus for the chance to connect. Christianity isn't everyone's belief and there are many who are seeking to believe something or that believe differently than you and that is meant to heard and understood. We have to caution ourselves that we don't build this single world mentality. What I mean is thinking that because the majority of campus is Christian and we have worship multiple times a week along with prayer that Christianity is the world and nothing else really exists for the time being.

When we believe that, we become ignorant to others and become set in enjoying all God every time and we lose track up the opportunity to pour out instead of just filling up. Being able to allow God to touch us but then going a step further and saying, "Here I am God, use me and allow your heart to touch those who have never seen it before."

The Christian bubble is an amazing blessing to have because it provides a safe place to mature in your faith and build your relationship with Christ alongside others. However, we shouldn't become comfortable in that bubble. If we grow comfortable we become complacent and complacency is dangerous. It drives us to feel satisfied with the little and keeps us from reaching the full potential God has for each one of our lives. Don't be afraid to leave the bubble, we are called to go into the world to share what God has done for us, so do that!

Just because all these children of God are fun and amazing to hang out with shouldn't keep you glued there, because besides after college that little bubble will burst. The so called 'real world' is right there and we should be confident and excited to see how God through his love and grace can use us a vessels to shine light into the dark.

Let God bless you there at college surrounded by all those other believers. Just don't forget to take the gifts He gives you and to share them with others outside of that bubble. Don't get caught in playing it safe when it comes to sharing your faith, we are called to live dangerous lives, so go be dangerous, go be real and go let His love lead.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
