Cats are misunderstood beings. With most of the world siding with dogs, cats seem to be discriminated against. Why is this? Can the world just not handle their sass? Or their unapologetic self-centered nature? Every race, gender and human being has positive and negative traits. Luckily enough, cats also have countless redeeming qualities, some of which just so happen to coincide with girls. Here are 30 reasons that prove that girls can get often be "cat-y."

1. They get their claws out in moments of conflict.

2. If you over-pet them, then they'll make you wish you never met them.

3. They don't like their litter box as much if someone's already been there.

4. They're affectionate only when they want to be.

5. They're soft to the touch.

6. A good hygiene regime is important to them.

7. They pop out meow's when they're bored.

8. Fish dates are a go, especially in the form of sushi!

9. They're very "purr-ticular" about who they sit with.

10. They bring you presents that are more centered to their personal tastes rather than something you would enjoy. For example, a dead bird or the "Notebook" DVD.

11. When they're in the mood, they could potentially rub you dry.

12. They don't particularly enjoy getting dirty, but could totally do it just as well as the boys. (Sorry, I had to throw in some anti-gender role statement up in there.)

13. They're lickers. They can't help it, it's just who they are.

14. Nothing makes them happier than clean laundry.

15. They chase what they want. (R.I.P. little mouse or hot lifeguard.)

16. They're paw-some at making you feel loved, especially since they're so picky with who they give it to.

17. The easiest cure for their cat-titude is food.

18. Glittery, flashy things always get them feeling some type of way.

19. They wouldn't mind sitting in front of a "meow-sician" for the rest of their life.

20. When it seems like they're being mean, they're most likely just kitty-ing

21. They try to spread paw-sitive vibes.

22. They live in the "mew-ment."

23. They get "hiss-terical" when you change the channel during their favorite show.

24. You might think they feel su-purr-ior to you, but that's generally just a mask they put on.

25. They wouldn't mind some good "litter-ature" on a rainy day.

26. They're "mew-ticulous" about where they eat.

27. They don't often get in cat fights, but when they do, they come out winning.

28. They're "fur-ever" there when you're having a rough day.

29. They have major "purr-incess" syndrome.

30. If you're their "fur-end," the they'll do anything they "paw-sibly" can for you.

I hope after reading this list, you stop and think, "Wow, girls and cats are really 'meow-some.'"

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.
