10 Cats That Will Help You Relieve Stress

College is a really stressful place to be around the middle of the semester. Midterms, the onset of final essays and projects, group presentations, cumulative tests... it all seems to get thrown at you now even though it's been on the syllabus since the first day of class. Add work and a social life to all of that and you've got a pretty stressful couple of months on your hands. Whenever I get super stressed out from college, I always try to prioritize assignments and award myself with internet time. This can be scrolling through Facebook, watching something on Netflix, or looking at adorable and hilarious pictures of cats. Here are 10 pictures I've found this week that have helped me to let out all of my stress through (very loud and prolonged) laughter!

1. The Avocato

2. The Catastrophe.

3. The One That Wears PETA Stickers.

4. The Kraken (It's a trap!)

5. The One That Makes You Sad (If you watch GOT).

6. The One With The Fabulous Fur Coat.

7. The Answer to Schroedinger's Question about Cats.

8. The One That Isn't a Schroedinger Fan!

9. The Minions of Darkness

10. The One Who Set The Fire

Hopefully, these 10 pictures of cats have helped you to destress and remember that, even if your GPA drops, internet cats will always be there for you.

If you're still feeling the stress, try a hot shower, some caffeine, and maybe an adult coloring book. Eating well and exercising are also really helpful when you start to get stressed out along with sticking to a routine and maintaining a sleep schedule. Sleeping period is all most college students ask for, but trying to keep a semi-regular bedtime can help you to let the worries of the day melt away.

Also, don't be afraid to ask for help. If you're struggling with a subject ask other classmates, your professor, or the tutoring center for advice. If you're struggling mentally, talk to your school counseling services or reach out to a family member or friend to let them know what is going on. If these cats really helped you out, see if you qualify for an emotional support animal and adopt a cat to help you stay calm in your day to day life.

Know that, while school is important, it isn't the single defining feature of your life. While I'm the poster child for "fear of failure," failure is an important part of life. We learn from our failures, near failures, and successes. So if you aren't doing so well in the middle of the semester, and you've let the stress take over your mind and your grades, use it as a lesson and apply it to your grades and your life next semester. Stay worry free, de-stressed, and keep looking at funny cat pictures online!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
