These days, we are inundated with images and issues that are quite ugly, especially with regard to animals. One of the causes that has a special place in my heart is the anti-declawing movement for cats and kittens. For background research, I suggest The Paw Project, as they present the issue from a different standpoint than most laypeople.
Growing up, I've learned a lot of lessons from my furry, and clawed companions. Here are a few that only cats and kittens with claws can teach you!
1. Patience is a Virtue
Being attentive to your feline's needs is of utmost importance. Many times, you will learn that your furry friend does not want to be touched, and he or she will be sure to alert you.
2. Kneading is ALWAYS better with claws
If you're lucky enough to experience a cat's kneading behavior, I am sure you do not knead (haha) an explanation as to why claws enhance the experience. But for those of you who do not have a cat, or who have never felt this phenomenon, I must say that when a cat kneads, and you feel the little grip of the claws, it is pure ecstasy!
3. This Grooming Pose!
To me, this pose epitomizes cats and the funny sounds they make when chewing on their back claws aren't too shabby either!
At the end of the day, declawing is an arcane and antiquated practice, banned in several developed countries around the world. If you don't want an animal with claws, don't get a cat or a dog. Love your furry cuddle-bugs, and cherish the memories you both will make!
