An animal’s love is a love like no other, and that stays true for all animals. However, I must say that the love a cat shares with its owner is truly very unique. They become companions and things to rely on. I’ve had a cat for the past 10 years of my life, and I can say with complete and total assurance that I need my cat.
First of all, when a cat purrs, you can just feel the happiness radiating off of them. They are just the happiest little animals. A day in the life of a cat consists of simply prancing around the house, sleeping and cuddling on their owner’s lap. Let’s not forget when they bring the dead bird/mouse/tiny rodent to the front door and drop it on the steps as some kind of sacrificial gift to show their loyalty to you. While it’s essentially the grossest thing you’ve ever seen, you can’t help but smile because you know your cat did it out of love. You know you're their number one.
What about when they want to go outside right as you are going to bed, and then at 3 in the morning, when they decide they’d like to be back inside, they jump on the window screens until they wake you up? I know that, at the time, it seems that nothing could be more irritating, but a few nights without the typical ruckus of your cat, you will be feeling lonelier than ever.
If you think about it, it seems that having a cat is kind of like having a little sibling. They both annoy the living daylight out of you, but your quality of life would simply not be the same without them.
Cats are so therapeutic and are really just the best partners to have in life. If you are feeling sad, a cat’s cuddle is the best cure. I know it seems beyond impossible for an animal to be everything to a person, but it’s so frequent and thank god for that. The best part about a cat being a therapy tool is that they don’t talk. Instead, they just understand, listen and love unconditionally.
Plus, in a world where there is often so much criticism and judgement, it’s nice to know that there is always someone that loves you no matter the situation. I constantly joke that I don’t know what I will do without my cat at any point in my life. If it were up to me, he would never leave me. He would live to be 100 years old. If I was smart enough and had the tools to do it, I would build a tool that could keep my cat alive until my very last day.
So take some advice: If you don’t have a cat, get one. I promise that the quality of your life will drastically improve, and even your worst days will get a little bit better. Once you see that little tail come in through the door, your heart will fill with love to see your little buddy.
