Cats Are Awesome

Why I believe cats are awesome and why you should think they are too.

Cats Are Awesome
Forget Your Sadness

In all actuality, I think all animals are pretty awesome.

I just happen to think that cats are the best at the moment. Its also apparent that the world loves them! I mean, look at all the cat memes and all the cat videos that are people's sole purpose for getting online.

I really can't blame them! They are probably one of the most adorable animals in the world, as seen above, simply because of how big they seem to be able to make their eyes and how soft they are! Plus, they are simply hilarious. I know that with having two cats, there is a lot of entertainment from seeing the two run in circles, chasing each other. Although it means that at 3 in the morning you get twice the noise of them running like maniacs from room to room or one of them does it at 1 a.m. and the other does it at 3 a.m.If you go to Youtube you could probably find videos of cats doing hilarious things - such as how high they jump when you put cucumbers by them. Ahh, those are the best.

My absolute favorite thing, though, is how they are mush easier to cuddle than dogs. I love having big dogs, which are great to have cuddling with you in bed on cold nights, but when they try to cuddle up on your lap on the couch - not so good. On the other hand, if cats curl up in your lap if you're sitting on the couch, it's perfectly okay! You may eventually get overheated depending on the type of cat, but they're still very cuddle and awesome to have around if you are cold.

They also seem to inherently know when you need some cuddle time if you're having a bad day. It's the same with dogs, but again cats are usually much easier to cuddle and hold in your lap. Plus, cats purr, which can be soothing to hear and feel.

Now, the litter box thing is kind of tough. It's a good and bad thing because it sucks having to clean it out and sweeping up the litter the cats kick out of it, but it's easier to do then take the dogs outside. With big dogs it can sometimes be hard since they can almost walk you instead of the other way around. Another great thing is that you can walk your cat! You just have to make sure it won't be making an escape by slipping out of the harness or collar.

Then, of course, there is a downside to cats. Even though they may be beautiful and incredibly soft, they could be grumpy. Some cats are antisocial or may even seem to like one person out of the ten they see on a regular basis. It's sad, but it could be partly from the way they were treated as kittens before they went to their owner, or sometimes it's the way the owner treats the cat. It happens, unfortunately.

But cats are awesome anyways! I love having them and I think they're great pets to have. They make great first pets for kids since it's a bit easier to clean up after a cat then take a dog outside to go potty or on a walk.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
