The Common Misconception That Cats Don't Need Attention

Cats are actually quite social creatures. Unfortunately, there is a common misconception that they don't require nearly as much attention as dogs do. Though cats enjoy solidarity more than dogs do, cats still want and need just as much attention as their canine friends.

Cats truly desire attention from their human counterparts and can become stressed and depressed when their owners are away. Some people adopt a cat, believing that he or she won't require much effort, which is absolutely incorrect.

Yes, cats can manage much better on their own, than dogs can. However, this doesn't make it okay to leave your cats alone for long periods of time, or to not pay them any attention. If left alone for long periods of time, cats can become destructive and even starve themselves.

A great way to spend time with and get to know your furry friend, is to play with him or her. Play is a crucial part of a cat's health, both physically and mentally. All cats have unique personalities and enjoy playing in different ways. Once you get to know your feline friend, you will know exactly how to get him or her running around in circles instantly.

Without consistent physical activity, cats can easily become overweight, which can cause other health complications. Having your cat chase a toy for a few minutes a day can help to keep off the weight.

Just like in humans, boredom can cause depression and anxiety, and being left alone worsens it. You can greatly strengthen your cat's mental health by simply petting and talking to him or her gently.

You are your cat's everything, and you control their quality of life. Don't let your pet's mental and physical health suffer for your negligence.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
