Preservation Of Moments

This past semester has been a really busy one. It was a semester filled with essays and nonstop work. I balanced all my work, but I had an imbalance in my free time. I had work to do, so I just did my work, gave my best effort and I wasn't truly thinking about how the workload was affecting me.

I'm a perfectionist, so I really work hard, sometimes even harder than I should. It's second nature to me because it's just how I am. I like to sit down and get things done. I use my time wisely.

However, I was given some advice this past semester that praised me for working as hard as I do, but it was also pointed out to me, that even though I am a hard worker, if I don't allow myself to take a break once in a while, I'm going to burn out.

This seemed like a crazy observation because I handle so much stuff and it never really sinks in how much I do, and that it does get to me by the end of the day. So much so, at times, that I just get randomly overwhelmed and my brain is just trying to regulate everything I did that day.

I've been smarter about it in recent days, by allowing myself to work, and to also take breaks. It's great to get everything done in one shot, but it's not worth it to put all this worm in to end up useless and burnt out.

I plan to make a living out of my passions and I have to keep moving forward with a beneficial work ethic. I have art, writing, photography, music blogging, to name a few things and I love them all.

So, this has become the summer of catching up. This summer, I got back to my art. I finally got to properly go through my record collection and create more features for my blog. I've been digging through and taking more photos. I've been doing everything I've been putting off all semester.

My usual college schedule is Monday to Friday, and I always finish by Friday, so I don't have to give up my weekends. I balance all my work with no hassle, but it really helps during the semester to still be able to have some free time instead of working constantly.

Since I'm explaining a little about my schedule, I also recommend either drinking water or Gatorade as you're working, so you can keep your brainpower up.

Anyway, since I've got the time to catch up, I'm taking the time to. If you're in the same situation, I suggest you do too, because once the work begins, your schedule changes.

Also, nothing is gonna happen if you say that I'll get this done. Don't say you'll get the time, you will only get everything done if you make time.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
