Why ABC's 'The Catch' Is The Next Show To Binge-Watch

**WARNING: Don’t read if you haven’t seen the pilot yet**

Recently, a new television drama series aired on ABC. Shondaland once again has brought television audiences another new insane show to get hooked on. There is a powerful-kick-ass female protagonist, a smooth dangerous con man, and a cat and mouse chase that will pull you in. This new spectacle explores the life of a top Private Investigator living in Los Angelo’s that is in hot pursuit of a world-class con artist who happens to be her fiancé.

The show stars actress Mireillo Enos as Alice the beautiful, sexy, and intelligent private investigator. Alice has a confident personality and is a high ranking working woman with a sense of danger and excitement. She’s great at her job and she knows it. The only problem she faces is tracking down a man that she doesn’t realize is standing right in front of her. In the beginning, Alice seems to have it all together, but quickly we see how fast that can fall apart. Just like Meredith Grey, Olivia Pope, and Annalise Keating we see a determined woman. Rhimes never fails to give us a powerful leading lady!

Joining Enos is the ‘mouse’ to her ‘cat’ in this epic chase. Peter Krause plays Benjamin who is also great at his job, but his downfall is losing himself in the fake identities he becomes. When he was Christopher the fiancé of Alice he found himself falling in love with her. Ben is a just like Steve Martin or Michael Caine in the 1988 Dirty Rotten Scoundrels film where a woman is their ultimate demise. Although it is prominent that the character Ben uses the “textbook con” to deceive her, viewers can see that some part of him is in love with Alice for real.

Throughout the pilot we see a painting that depicts a beautiful woman with a melancholy expression embracing a man whose face is hidden. Maria Kreyn painted the actual portrait titled “Alone Together” about four years ago. The show opens with the painting and closes with the painting. We can deduce that the piece is a representation of Alice and Ben’s relationship. Alice is distraught for the situation that defeats her and Ben is the man who knows how to disappear.

There are hints of comedic dialogue, steamy sex scenes, and moments where you are yelling at the television in frustration. In the first ten minutes of the show viewers find out the con man/villain, Mr. X is the protagonist’s fiancé, Christopher (who is really Benjamin). The show moves fast and gives you everything you need in order to understand what is going to happen this season.

“The Catch” will catch your attention. It has the Tom & Jerry and "Catch Me If You Can feel to it," where there is always someone that is one step ahead. With twists and turns in store for this season the case is on and the game is about to begin.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
