Last year my family adopted a cat from a local shelter. She fit in with our family right away and made herself at home. Phoebe (who was named after the popular character on "Friends") isn't quite like other cats though, you see she thinks that she is a dog.
I'm not sure how this mindset came to our little calico kitty but she is convinced that she is a dog. When you get home she runs to the door and greets you just as puppy would. She then follows you around the house until you give the attention she missed while you were gone. Not only this but she will wait patiently by the door until someone goes outside, and then she will follow you expecting you to take her for a walk. This idea probably comes from the time we did take her for a walk. Once a cat runs outside so many times you just have to give in. Now she thinks anytime we go outside it means she gets to go for a walk. So she tries to sneak out the door with you. This is of course followed by us frantically chasing her around the yard and bringing her back inside.
If this isn't enough to show you how crazy my cat is, she chases her tail too. Full on chases it, just like a dog. When she's casually sitting around and catches a glimpse of her tail out of the corner of her eye she hops up and starts running in circles in hopes of catching her elusive tail. She also feels the needs to turn around 3 times before she lies down, another trademark of a dog behavior. Then there's the face licking, don't even get me started on that.
There's a lot of weird things that my cat does, and perhaps she learned them from a dog, or maybe she's just crazy-none the less I love her.
