How To Know If You Are A Cat Mom

Child or Cat?

Being a cat mom is a serious job and only those who assume the role understand its burden. A real mom changes diapers, feeds her child, and sacrifices sleep. A cat mom changes litter boxes, feeds her cat, and also sacrifices sleep to accommodate her very demanding cat. Cats are a lot like children in the way that they have needs but cats are far more belligerent. I will say that cats and children are both ungrateful but that is a given.

However, what does being a cat mom entail?

1. You have a queen size bed but you only get 1/3 of it to yourself.

The cat gets 2/3 of the bed to stretch out.

The cat may also decide that the cat wants to sleep in the middle of the bed, leaving you no option but to take the very edge.

2. Do not try to relocate the cat while it's sleeping in your bed at night.

The cat will get angry. The cat will go back to the spot it was in out of spite.

3. When the cat joins you for cuddles you drop everything to pet the cat.

This is your job as a cat mom. Nothing else matters besides petting the cat. Reading the paper? Not anymore. The cat will sit right on top of it. Watching a video on your laptop? Better forget it, the cat will close the lid.

4. When you come home after being gone for more than an hour, you greet the cat.

The first thing you do is pick up the cat and say how much you have missed it. The cat will expect this and will stare at you until you do so.

5. You always say goodbye to the cat when leaving the house.

This is a must, but they don’t really care if you do because they are cats and don’t speak English, or do they???

6. You must apologize if you have hurt their feelings.

Hurting their feelings includes: Not being home, not giving them a treat when you normally do, ignoring them for someone else, ignoring them for a different cat, ignoring them for your significant other, locking them out of your room, locking them in a room on accident, not petting them when they are sitting in front of you, laughing at them when they do something strange, laughing at them when they are falling asleep while staring at you,or laughing at them in general.

7. When you're heartbroken because you accidentally stepped on their tail.

They make the more upsetting noise ever and then hide until they want to forgive you. Until then you are waiting in agony because you hurt your baby.

8. When someone else tries to pet them, but they only want your love.

Swerve.

9. If you lock them out of your bedroom, you will hear about it all night.

If you enjoy sleep, let them into your room. They will meow all night until you let them in because they cant live without you or maybe they just like your bed, either way they will not give up.

10. An hour later they will want let out of the room.

They will knock everything off of the dresser until you let them out. Of course, they will want back in later.

Honestly being a cat mom is exactly like being a real mom, but your cat child has fur and meows.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
