Hello college fashionistas! Even though most of us don't enjoy the cold winter weather, luckily we can help make it suck a little less with cute winter clothing. In the cold months, I think that it's necessary to have a few casual clothing pieces that are stylish, comfortable, and can be paired with anything. Keep reading to see which 10 clothing essentials you need in your closet this winter.

1. Fur jacket/coat

Thank goodness for this recent trend. Pairing a statement fur jacket with a simple outfit can take it to the next level. Personally, I wear my fur jackets all the time. I also love sherpa vests and pullovers! They were also a major trend this fall and winter and are easy to wear with everything. If you invest in any item of clothing this winter, I definitely suggest that it be a fur jacket!

2. Classic cardigan

When in doubt, add a cardigan. Honestly, nothing has saved me more than investing in a few neutral-colored cardigans to throw on over a basic T-shirt or tank top. When I'm running late or lacking Monday motivation, a cardigan is my go-to. You can also dress an outfit up or down with this piece.

3. Basic pair of jeans

Investing in a nice, comfortable pair of jeans is useful to almost all college girlies. Currently, the “mom jean” style is making its way into women's closets, and let's just say that I'm super happy about it. I love the loose, comfortable, stylish look that they provide. You can also wear just about any top or jacket with a basic pair of jeans.

4. Black leggings

A pair of black leggings provides the ultimate balance between comfortability and style. They can be worn with anything and dressed up or down for any occasion. Dress them down by pairing them with a sweater or hoodie, or dress them up by wearing them under a dress or with a blouse.

5. Basic T-shirt

Basic colored or vintage-looking T-shirts can be worn by themselves with a pair of jeans, leggings, or joggers, or they can be worn under a cardigan, denim, or fur jacket. This item of clothing is very versatile and can be worn almost anywhere.

6. Denim/leather jacket

Want to wear that cute tank top or t-shirt this winter but the cold weather is holding you back? Pair that top with a basic denim or leather jacket to add style and winterize the outfit.

7. Parka

If you're like me and you dread the cold winter months, investing in a parka will save your life. I wear mine almost every day in the winter, and it keeps me warm when I'm walking to class or spending time outdoors.

8. Long-sleeve turtleneck sweater

A turtleneck sweater is my definite go-to in the wintertime. I wear my turtleneck sweaters by themselves, with a cardigan, or a fur jacket. They are very cozy, stylish, and can be dressed up or down for any occasion.

9. Neutral plaid scarf

Finding a plaid that goes with almost anything is tricky, but definitely worth it. Since I wear blush and grey very frequently, I found a plaid scarf with that color scheme. Plaid scarves are sold in many different colors and variations, and can be worn by themselves with a plain sweater, or with a winter coat or jacket.

10. Joggers

Comfort and style in a pair of pants? Yes please! Nothing screams laid-back Sunday afternoon like a pair of fleece-lined joggers. They are great for lounging around inside, going to the gym, or for everyday wear.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
