"It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time It's Tricky, it's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)." Run-DMC had it right when they exclaimed how tricky it is to rock a rhyme, but I am sure they have no idea how tricky it really is to get a hit off of the Yankees very own No Run DMC. For those out of the loop, No Run DMC is in reference to the back end of the Yankees bullpen, Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller and the flamethrower Aroldis Chapman. Through sixty innings these three have already combined for one hundred and ten strikeouts even with Chapman suspended for the first thirty games. This is the likes of a bullpen that is challenging to be one of the best ever. The one thing standing in their way, the Yankees front office. Talks have begun as the Yankees have gotten off to a shaky start of their season as to whether or not they should consider trading off pieces at the deadline. Here is why the Yankees should reconsider:
1. Give It time.
There is still long ways to go, giving up on the season early on would be a mistake. Sitting only 6.5 games back as of June 5th the Yankees have not even begun to play their best baseball as of yet. Crawling their way to a 26-29 record if the Yankees pick up their play then they can be right where they want to be, especially in an AL East full of question marks.
2. They may never get this talented of a group again.
From the days of the "Big Red Machine" and dominant bullpens of the past a talented the Yankees are doing their best to re-create that mystique. There may never have been a bullpen that has put up such eye-popping numbers. Regardless of how long this group is together, it is one for the record books.
3. Fair Value.
Last season we saw the Blue Jays acquire David Price from the Tigers for three prospects, including the Blue Jays top prospect Daniel Norris, a lot to give away but my no means a king's ransom. Chapman and Miller both top notch closers in their primes are worthy of a big haul, though is any team willing and able to pay up.
4. Reason to watch.
In a season that has a chance to be a lost one and many key names disappearing to the D.L. Yankee fans are losing reason interest and reason to watch. The chance to see "No Run DMC" is worth the price of admission alone for many Yankee fans.
5. If the turnaround does happen, the Yankees may be unstoppable.
Stumbling out of the gate thanks to a lackluster offense and subpar pitching the Yankees are by all means not running on all cylinders. If the offense can catch a spark and the starters can go at least six and give some quality starts with a back end of a bullpen as dominant as theirs these Yankees can be dominant in an instant.
