Stanford Rape Case Has So Many Issues

Nothing about this case is okay.

He is a rapist. He should to be considered anything else at this point. He’s barely even human for being able to do what he did. I wholeheartedly believe that this isn’t the first time a case has happened like this. It’s time we start to do what we should have years ago and take action. Thankfully, social media is one step ahead and is doing something positive with this case.

Brock Turner raped a woman behind a dumpster. She was unconscious and he did gut wrenching things to her. I don’t want to go into detail because if for some reason the survivor of this case is reading this, she doesn’t need to be reminded of the details.

News stations, the judge, his father and himself are making light of this awful situation. News stations are showing his school photo instead of his mugshot. They are stating his swimming records like we care? His father said that his son’s “life has been deeply altered forever by the events.” That “he will never be his happy go lucky self.” Are you kidding me? That’s disgusting that he could even say that! His father goes on to say that his punishment is “a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life.” WHAT ABOUT THE VICTIM HERE? Who knows the price she’s going to pay for her ENTIRE LIFE because of your stupid son! This gets me so heated. I can’t believe someone could even say these things. Towards the end of his father’s letter he began saying that Brock can educate others on “how society can being to break the cycle of binge drinking and its unfortunate results.” HE BLAMES DRINKING FOR HIS SON’S DISGUSTING ACTIONS. I understand standing by your family especially your kid but being a parent also knows when to punish your child. There is no one and no drink, nothing to blame for his actions. What he did that night is unutterable and disgusting. I literally get a pit in my stomach.

What if the roles were reversed? What if he had a daughter who was raped like this OR even his son was raped? Would he still think it’s okay to read about the hard and difficult times the rapist is going through now? This whole incident is gut wrenching.

The fact Brock Turner only got six months and now three because they expect good behavior from him is insane. I guarantee if he was an African American he would be serving the maximum sentence. Racism is real. While privilege is real. Blaming the victim is still real.

To the survivor, you have a whole lot of people on your side and sending you strength. The Vice President, celebrities and many many people throughout the world. I am so sorry for what this disgusting human took from you. I know sorry won’t change the way you feel now but I hope you find peace one day. You are so much more than this. You’re incredible. He is a disgrace to the human race and I hope by some miracle he rots in jail. You’re so so strong. Hang in there.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
