Because it's Monday and all I did this weekend was watch "The Masters" on CBS, drink copious amounts of coffee, and binge watch "Parks & Recreation," I had nothing else better to do than to think of my favorite animated cartoon characters I watched growing up.
My qualifications for this list is that the character must have eyes and be animated. It is also worth noting that this ranking is both meaningless and unassailable.
10. Jonny Quest
He is only 10 years old and accompanies his father who is a scientist on extraordinary adventures. Plus, he rocks the hell out of that black turtleneck, and look at that hair: feathered, flawless, exceptional.
9. Tom & Jerry
Looking back on this show, it was pretty violent. Tom would often use axes, bombs, hammers, traps and even poison to capture Jerry. Having no dialogue between these two made the show 10 times funnier, and watching Tom get his tail clamped down in a waffle iron made me laugh hard as a kid.
8. Foghorn Leghorn
My brother had this giant stuffed Foghorn Leghorn when I was little (it towered over me) and something about this rooster constantly stuttering/repeating himself in a loud, overbearing voice was hilarious to me.
7. Daffy Duck
Greedy, sarcastic, and slightly arrogant; The opposite of Bugs Bunny. Daffy Duck was like that mouthy friend you had growing up who always had a comment for something. His best moment comes when he and Bugs Bunny are arguing about what hunting season it is. Check it out on YouTube.
6. Scooby Doo
Scooby Doo! Where are you?! I am pretty confident my parents bought me Scooby Doo pajamas (slightly embarrassed to admit this) and I wore them until they were faded and all worn down. He is man's best friend, and who wouldn't want a talking dog to hang out with?
5. Bugs Bunny
He helped Michael Jordan save the universe in "Space Jam," he earns the fifth spot on this list with his humor, poise, and ability to have his own catchphrase of "What's up Doc?"
4. Johnny Bravo
"You smell kinda pretty, wanna smell me?" If you ever need the best pickup lines to use, although they never really worked out for him, check out Johnny Bravo quotes. If you have any success with them, contact me ASAP.
3. Dexter
He had a secret laboratory in his house! Boy-genius Dexter was always cooking up some new invention in his lab, and almost always, it ended in a disaster. I admire his skills and applaud him for his efforts.
2. Spiderman
I owned every single piece of Spiderman merchandise as a kid, from action figures and t-shirts to a toothbrush and even Spiderman underwear. The story lines, characters, and theme song are all still tattooed in my brain.
1. Batman
This holds a special place in my heart, because I watched every damn episode of "Batman: The Animated Series." Batman is the best superhero, hands down, but this show was the best. One year for Halloween I had this exact costume. I was a little chubby back in the day, and my brother referred to me as Fatman. Even as a kid with the costume on, I thought I was The Dark Knight.
Honorable mentions: Marvin the Martian, Space Ghost, The Road-Runner, and Speedy Gonzales.
