Cars evolve more by the second. These days, you see a car have multiple features like Wi-Fi, a big sunroof, GPS, TVs, cameras, or self-driving technology. Every day, cars will have something new installed; perhaps they are making a car that can unlock with just your voice when you tell it to open. The appearance of cars are also looking more futuristic and believe me, I think it is these cars becoming more and more interesting. If the newest car with the latest technology was given to me as a gift I’d accept it, but I would’ve secretly preferred an older car.
Since a child, I have loved simplicity; I have grown to appreciate it. To me, all of these features that cars have today is so unnecessary. Why do I need TV's in my car? Why do I need a big sunroof that goes all the way back? I do not need that at all. Even as a child, I was happy with being in a car that had nice leather seats and smelled good. A car that has all kinds of gadgets does not make the car; it’s the way that it rides. Having too many gadgets on a car is just too much. I feel like it would make me spoiled and lazy. The only thing I would love to have in the car is being able to answer my phone through the steering wheel. I think that is very useful these days and it lowers the risk of having an accident.
Some people may believe otherwise but the more manufacturers add things to their automobiles, the higher the price the car is going to be. Many electronics in the car, I believe in my opinion, will take money out of your pocket when unexpected problems come to surprise you like your least favorite family member coming to your thanksgiving dinner. All I ever want in a car is that it drives well, that it is has a very lovely A/C, that it has leather seats, and it is durable through anything.
My favorite cars were the ones that were in the 80’s and 90’s. The reason why I think the best cars were made at that time is because they all had something different about them. Every car brand had a specific, unique style that would separate them from the other cars. For example, Mercedes-Benz has frog eyes that it could indeed be differentiated as a Mercedes from far away. Some Nissans had sedans that had the box-like look. Now, every single car looks the same, and now you cannot tear them apart. If you were buying an expensive car, you’d be buying a car that looks exactly like the non-expensive one and that there is enough to tell me to stick with older cars. Now, everyone is trying to get a nice car with the sporty look and sooner or later they end seeing five or more cars a day that look identical to theirs. Back then; it was rare pulling up to a car looked exactly like yours, now it’s very common.
