My love affair with "Sex and the City" originated at a time when my life was blissfully simple. I was admittedly naive – a Jersey girl with dreams of an “all grown up” future that included Manolos on my feet.
There’s no doubt that the media in 2016 does differentiate from the realm of '90s TV, but I’d like to believe certain aspects are timeless. An issue of Vogue will never be considered archaic… only vintage. There is no publication sexier than The New York Times. And PR will always be relevant.
I am a firm believer that as a millennial, it is a divine responsibility to publicize my perspectives. Yes, that means I take my social media presence too seriously. No, that is not an apology.
With my senior year of high school on the horizon, “someday” is today. And grown up life’s not-so-lovely intricacies are a new, unfamiliar reality.
For now, all I can say is that my goal is simple – to look back and know that I laughed, loved, traveled, indulged and savored every moment. The Collins Diaries will accompany me as a catalog to my coming of age story in a world dominated by culture. Thankfully, I have Carrie Bradshaw and her friends as predecessors to help me along the way (in style).
1. “Men may have discovered fire, but women discovered how to play with it.”
2. “Some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.”
3. “You have to let go of who you were to become who you will be.”
4. “Better alone than badly accompanied.”
5. “Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with.”
And now if you’ll excuse me, I have an empire to build.
