Caroling is a timeless tradition for those who like to celebrate the holidays by spending time with friends and family while enjoying their favorite Christmas songs. Every year in New Orleans, locals and visitors alike come together to sing their favorite carols in Jackson Square—many people who have attended say that this event is the highlight of the holiday season!

This event has been going on since 1946—that's seventy years! Thousands of people flock to the square each year to join in on the fun and festivity with their friends and family. The best part is that the event is free and welcomes anyone who wants to come, regardless of their religious affiliations or musical abilities. So don't worry if you don't have the best singing voice - both professionals and enthusiastic amateurs are welcome and encouraged to participate!

The event is sponsored by Patio Planners, which is a nonprofit organization that aims to preserve the natural beauty of the French Quarter. Patio Planners provides candles and song sheets for participants, giving the event a beautiful glow and allowing everyone to make sure they get their lyrics right! In order to raise money for these supplies, Patio Planners hosts holiday home tours, which are another great way to get in the spirit! These tours take place earlier in the day on the same day as the caroling in Jackson Square - thats December 18th! Many of the homes are beautiful residences in the French Quarter that have been decorated extensively for the holiday season. If you're interested in architecture, need ideas for your own holiday decorations, or simply want to take a look at some beautiful houses, these tours are a can't miss event! Plus, you'll be contributing to a great cause when you purchase your ticket.

These self-guided walking tours run from 1:00 to 4:00 on the 18th, and the caroling event in Jackson Square opens its gates at 6:30, so if you want to squeeze in both make sure you keep track of time. Caroling officially starts at 7:00, but the event is extremely popular and fills up fast, so participants are advised to get there early before things get too crowded. This event is perfect if you're looking for a fun family outgoing to get everyone in the holiday spirit. It would also be a blast to attend with a couple of friends or even for a date night. Caroling at Jackson Square is a great way to hear all your favorite holiday music while participating in an amazing tradition that you can keep coming back to year after year!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
