The Becker Career Center is an incredible resource for all students. All of the faculty there are working there for the students. Most students, especially underclassmen, would think that there isn't any real applicable use at the Career Center for them. However, there are plenty of introductory orientations on how to get started early on the process of exploring career choices and building a foundation for career opportunities. Once a student is done with college, they're most likely going to be out looking for an internship or a job opportunity but once out of college, it's a lot harder to have the Career Center's help.
Everyone at the Career Center is there to help the students, so there is no need to feel overwhelmed or hesitant about starting the process. The Becker Career Center offers events every month to provide numerous opportunities to explore and solidify a career path of your choice. There won't be any guarantee or promises that will get you a job indefinitely, but planning out for what you want to do is half the battle. The Career Center has all the valuable resources a college student needs to find and get a job. From UCAN (the Union College Advisory Network) to HireU (Union College exclusive hiring database) the possibilities are vast. UCAN, for example, connects you with Union alumni so you can gain knowledge and understanding about career fields of interest. It is a database that has access to over 11,000 alumni, which is exclusive to Union students.
So whether you are an underclassmen that has a vague idea about where to go or an upperclassmen that's ready to be a prospective employee, it's advantageous to head over to the Career Center early. Union College has so much to offer, not just in its academics but for all the opportunities to be prepared to pursue a career that engages and interests you.
