Unless you've been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you're probably heard of self-care.
If you don't know, it's all about treating yo' self and showing your soul and your body some well-deserved love.
Sometimes life gets hectic and we forget to keep ourselves in check. Even something as little as taking a bubble bath or doing a face mask counts as self-care. There are no rules to self-care, only that if something works for you, then keep doing it.
It's so nice to indulge every now and then, but why do we have to wait for a stressful situation to destress and relax? Why not make it a part of our weekly routine?
It's time to start #SelfCareSunday.
#SelfCareSunday is a movement to do just that, make self-care a part of our normal routine! Devote the entire day to pamper yourself, or just do something for an hour. Work out. Do your nails. Take a shower. Take a break from social media. Eat a cheat meal. Turn off your phone. The options are limitless.
Friendly reminder: Self-care is NOT selfish. With our lives becoming more hectic and interconnected than ever before, now is the time to slow down, unplug and detox from life. We as individuals HAVE to take this time to celebrate ourselves for all of the hard work we do so that we can continue to be inspiring, creative and hardworking.
Throughout history, it's always been about "work hard now and enjoy it later." I don't know about you, but I don't want to wake up at 80 and realize that I've had no fun and fulfillment in my life. I want to be able to enjoy what I can do while I'm still able to do it.
The key here is to do what makes YOU happy. This day is about YOU. It's time that we stand up and treat ourselves with the love and respect that we deserve.
So join me this Sunday and every Sunday after, to participate in #SelfCareSunday!
