It's more than facials and bath bombs.

When most people think of the term "self-care," they most likely think of turning their phones off for an hour or so and maybe doing a nice facial with a new Lush product. Although these two practices are nice and can be helpful, a lot of times they won't always empty the mind of what needs to be cleared.

When I think of "self-care" I think of many things, but most importantly, putting yourself first. And with putting yourself first sometimes comes with reaching out of your comfort zone.

Let's be real, taking hot baths and using nice products on our face are being in our comfort zone, so how can you practice self-care?

Self-care can be and not limited to:

1. Spending less time with a person who no longer serves you a healthy purpose (especially toxic friends).

2. Switching out of a draining major even though it might upset your parents.

3. Exploring your innate passion even if that means leaving things behind.

4. Walking away from a broken relationship.

5. Finding the strength and benefits of being alone sometimes.

6.Reading a book even if it pains you to.

7. Tell someone what's on your mind even if it produces undesirable consequences.

8. Educating yourself on a counterargument of a topic you passionately invest yourself in.

9. Admitting to yourself the way you truly feel.

10. Accepting that you might need help.

11. Stop letting your past define you. Only learning from it.

12. Stop blaming yourself for something that happened out of your control.

13. Reach out to people, and be nice always.

14. Breathe and look around you. The world can be a beautiful place if you let it.

As you can see, there's way more than just physically pampering yourself. Self care is about cleansing the mind, body, and soul.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
