Cardinal O'Hara High School is one of many Catholic high schools in the Delaware County area. O'Hara is a cluster of all the local Catholic grade schools, and even the local public middle schools too. Being an O'Hara student automatically makes you a member of a big family. With pride, excellence, and tradition, we are all proud to be an O'Hara Lion, and display our pride in red and blue!

You know you went to Cardinal O'Hara when:

1. You started your day with prayer in your homeroom.

"Good morning Cardinal O'Hara, please stand for our morning prayers."

2. You had three minutes to rush to class.

There were barely any breaks in between classes, so hurry and get to class before you get written up!

3. You bragged to other schools about your early Friday dismissal.

We all looked forward to Friday's knowing we got out of school at 1:35 p.m. instead of the usual 2:30 p.m. dismissal. Such a privilege!

4. We all wore the same uniform.

Shirts "tucked in," skirts rolled up, holes in tights, bucks, and that awkward hole in your sweater where your elbows are. Even though we all agree they were very comfy.

5. The candy counter trips.

Watermelon lollipops and mambas were an everyday thing.

6. Having the biggest rivalry in DELCO.

O'Hara VS. Bonner athletic games were the best to attend.

7. Having to pay $10 to get your own phone back.

Cell phones were strictly prohibited during class. If a teacher caught you, you would have to pay $10 for it back and attend a Saturday morning detention.

8. Love to sing along at Mass.

Indescribable... uncontainable....

9. Earning different colored lanyards.

If you kept a certain GPA, and were involved in school, you were awarded a different colored lanyard and a doughnut. Whoo!

10. Your classroom was stinkbug infested.

Wherever you looked, in every corner, there would be at least 10 stink bugs.

11. You had no air conditioning.

We all dreaded those long summer school days. Our thighs sticking to the chairs, and being so uncomfortably hot.

12. You went on Kairos.

Everyone enjoyed the Kairos experience their senior or junior year. It is a memory most will hold onto for their lifetime!

13. You owned a Jansport backpack.

Chances are you had a Jansport, put no books in it, and wore it with the strings all the way up. That's just how it was.

14. We were "all in"

We heard and proudly strutted this saying almost every day. We never let any member of the O'Hara community "fight alone." Being an O'Hara lion meant you were a part of a family, and always had a second home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
