In today's day and age, living without a car can be rather troublesome. In today's society we grow up with the ever growing want for freedom from our parents, and frankly to get out of the house; but there is one thing we don't think could happen to us once we get that freedom of having a car, and that is being apart of a car crash.
For me, I got my license at 17 years old and bought my first car a couple weeks before graduation. Now, a couple months had pass and everything was amazing, I finally felt like I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted. Then one morning, I woke up and had to go meet someone to go to the gym; not even a half mile from my home, I pulled out into the main road and everything seemed fine, until I heard the rev of an engine. As I looked over I saw a car speeding towards the side of me, swerve across the yellow double line and hit the front end of my car. Moments later, I was facing the street I had just left and my car was totaled.
As we grow up; especially through our teen years, we consider more and more how much we really want a car; our friends have one and have jobs and we are left wondering when we are going to achieve that same goal. Then, as we getting closer and closer to having a car and gaining that freedom, we think less and less of what could truly happen once we are out on the road. For a split second, the expense dawns on us as we look at the prices for insurance but we still don't think we will be involved in a accident or anything along the lines; until it happens.
For guy's, getting into an accident before you turn 25 years old, means insurance will cost anywhere from $400 to $1300 a month for just liability (or state minimum). For Female's it would be far less, but still more expensive then you had paid previously. There is a lot more than most think that goes into a car accident. Often times insurance becomes impossible to pay.
As for me, I couldn't even begin to think about insurance for two years because my dad worked and I needed a car to have a job; and for the most part insurance companies wanted anywhere from $800 through $1400 a month for me to have insurance. With no job I could get without a car it became impossible. Cars are machines that are taken for granted and yet it could change your life for the better or worse.
Evidently, be cautious of everything around you, and do not think your invincible on the road because you're driving; because truthfully, you would be more likely to be in an accidentally thinking in that manner. All our parents at one time or another, probably will or had said to us, "drive safe and don't speed"; and with that, don't ignore their message because most times it's not you their worried about it is the other drivers on the road that has them worried about you.
