We all know this: the majority of the U.S. (hell, the world) believes Donald Trump may be one of the worst presidents of all time. While this statement may be a debatable one, there is no doubt that everyone has questioned the current leader of our nation. But even if you do agree with President Trump's decisions and morals, wouldn't you think that there is someone else that would be perfect for the job- even if they're fictional?
This would be none other than Captain America himself. He dons the American flag on his super suit no matter what decade it is, has seen it all from World War II to the titan Thanos trying to destroy half the universe and his birthday actually falls on the Fourth of July (this year is his 100th!). Although Chris Evans may be the closest thing we have to the Captain in real life (he should run for president, as well, might I add), let us just take a look at the times when this superhero proved he could beat out any other candidate on the ballot.
He is loyal to his best friend through anything, even when his memory is wiped and is sent to kill him...
GiphyThis is probably one of the most admirable qualities of Captain America. Bucky has been Steve's best friend (more like a brotherly figure) all his life, and this saying has followed their friendship from their Brooklyn playground to the battlefields of WWII. Even when Bucky has been brainwashed by the evil org H.Y.D.R.A. and is sent to kill him, Cap still hangs onto the hope that Bucky will remember him somewhere deep down and refuses to fight him which results in him (almost) dying.
... even if that means fighting against his other ones to protect him.
GiphyCap's loyalty to his best friend really shows when he has to choose between his fellow Avenger friend and his long-time bestie. Even though Bucky's mind is still controlled by his inner demons in "Civil War," Cap continues to fight hard to keep his best friend at bay in the present day. And even when Iron Man wants to kill Bucky for killing his own parents when he was still the Winter Solider, Cap does everything he can to protect his BFFL. If that isn't friendship, then I don't know what is.
He would never disrespect women with harsh language even if he tried...
Pre-serum Steve Rogers, and even post-serum, isn't too suave with the ladies. But the fact that he tries so hard to be a gentleman with his words is enough to make any lady swoon. Plus, the "locker-room talk" that President Trump seems to love would never even cross Cap's mind.
... and isn't even a big fan of swearing himself.
The 1940's Cap is coming out, and we're all here for it. At least we know that this patriotic man would never use the "sophisticated" language that our current President upholds.
He was willing to lay down his life for a greater cause at the drop of a hat for fellow strangers...
A secret test is always the best way to expose someone's true character. During boot camp, a fake grenade was rolled into a troop doing push-ups, and while everyone ran to take cover, Cap ran straight toward it in order to save everyone else. If there is one moment that truly defines Captain America, this is definitely it.
... as well as for his whole country.
Another act of bravery from the Captain. Even when Cap found himself on an aircraft with several missiles targeted for the world's major cities, he was immediately willing to sacrifice his life and drive the plane into the ocean. In his last moments of life, he is even talking to his one love trying to plan a first date within the next week. As sad and heartfelt as this moment is, Cap still tries to keep his promise to his girl and his country.
He recognizes when freedom becomes something it isn't...
GiphyOnce S.H.I.E.L.D. decides to create more weapons to protect its world from the unknown, Cap ultimately sees it as fear rather than freedom. In a world that is currently trying to crack down on immigration rights, there is no other man that could make the nation second-guess their true feelings and opinions on such important matters.
... and reminds others what it should really be.
While these words are from the WWII propaganda films, it is a value that has stuck with Cap throughout the decades. For a man that is willing to fight on the front line no matter who is on the other side and voices his beliefs, he seems especially worthy to be the POTUS.
He always wanted to be part of the fight with good reason...
Even when pre-serum Cap couldn't pass the physical test to join the army, his will to keep trying to do something was stronger than anything. Someone with this much dedication and passion for a cause should definitely be in the running for something presidential.
... along with some personal opinions in mind that anyone can relate to.
The one thing the human soul absolutely loves is relatability, and any regular person anywhere could understand where Steve Rogers is coming from. This is the main motivation behind Cap's will to fight, and for something so down-to-earth to fight for, this definitely makes him seem like a great person.
He believes in unity...
Cap would definitely love "We're All In This Together" from HSM and would believe in its thematic elements. Another point for future President Rogers!
... even if losing is the end result.
One of the most noble opinions of the Captain is that he values unity. Whether it be with the U.S. Army or the Avengers, as long as everyone sticks together, one thing is for sure- that the enemy will not go down without a good fight.
And no matter what size he was or what decade he was a part of...
Pre-serum Cap not backing down from a fight? Who wouldn't vote for this man!
... he never let anything change who he was.
Same old stuff but a different decade. No matter what size or uniform Cap decides to don, he will never back down from the fight he believes in.
