Trusting God in the face of new challenges

It's amazing to think that in a few weeks all of us seniors will graduate. (Well some of us sooner). Where has the time gone?

Our hands will throw the cap and we will officially be graduates. The fun we had in high school will always be cherished. Now it's time for the journey that can shape us into who we will become.

High school is a closed chapter no longer to be opened except for the memories we shared, and most likely the embarrassing stories. (Boy do I have quite a few).

So I would like to encourage our graduates of 2017 to reach the moon and land in the stars.

(Not physically, unless you plan on being an astronaut then, by all means, go for it).

Satan will try every strategy in his tiny book of deceit to get us to fail... These few years will test us in who we will allow to shape us.

It's crucial because its either God or the world. Have you ever thought of that? Satan has a chance to attack us and lure us into his attractive trap, but we actually have a chance to stand on our own two feet and fight him with the truth of God.

Maybe this is our chance to start a chain reaction. To show the world who we really are as Christians.

College can be stressful but in the end, it's all worth it.

College is pretty much high school except a lot more stressful and double the homework, but at the same time, it's AMAZING! And here's why.

College is where we will be able to grow spiritually. You're pretty much on your own as an adult.

You get to experience God's grace and love as an individual on your own.

Okay, I know this might sound like I'm making college a breeze, but it's true. God is the only person we can depend on when there is no one else we can turn to.

A favorite verse that I have come to cherish is Psalm 23:1. I was reading it in my devotional yesterday and it just clicked.

"The Lord is MY shepherd, I shall not want."

Though college might sound big and scary to some, God is there right alongside you, protecting you, comforting you. I won't lack anything as long as I keep my eye on Him.

Is it scary to be out there on your own? Absolutely!

It's becoming reality to me that in two months I won't be home anymore. I'll be away studying.

I firmly believe that God is going to use that time to bring us closer to Him and guide us to our purpose. This journey that you're about to discover is more of a blessing than it is a fear.

You're not alone in this great adventure. He's there protecting you as He always is.

I would like to end this article with a quote.

"I had my ups and my downs and I fell a few times, but I did not give. Don't give up."

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
