Going home for the holidays is one of the most exciting things that happen to students. It means that we get to go home, be with family, eat home-cooked meals, see our pets, be in our own beds and etc. I don't always get to see my family and the times like Thanksgiving and Christmas break when I do I get very excited.

During Thanksgiving break my family usually puts on Charlie Brown, we decorate the house for the family that is coming, make food, put on the fire, and get to be holiday cheery. Its such an amazing feeling when I wake up in my own bed to the sound of holiday music. I love the holidays and being able to spread the holiday cheer by wearing Christmas sweaters and listening the All I want for Christmas is You.

When I am home I feel like I am in my comfort place, I mean yes we all feel comfortable and safe in our homes. But home is so unjudgmental, it is the one place I can be by myself and no one gets upset that I spend hours watching Netflix instead of going outside and being social. Being around family is just the safest and most wonderful feeling we could have.

Although Christmas is my ultimate favorite holiday in the world, I have started to grow on Thanksgiving and I won't lie and say that I love it because it is a day about food. But I love it because out of state family that I don't get to see comes over my house and it is just a wonderful time. We gather around the fire and watch holiday movies, we sit around the table and joke around, and after Thanksgiving, we start to think about Christmas and even go to Newport mansions to see the lights.

I have learned over the years about how amazing Thanksgiving is and why spending it with family is so important. Growing up we start to realize the importance of being thankful for everything in our lives, especially the people we love and care for. I have met amazing people that I am so thankful for such as two best friends, an amazing boyfriend and a soon to be sister in law. Although my family can drive me crazy sometimes, there is absolutely no better feeling than packing and making arrangements to go home for even just a week vacation.

There's really no better feeling than being home... because there is no place like home.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
