My Spring Break in Cancun

My Spring Break in Cancun

Spring break is full of choices. Do I go on a relaxing vacation, an educational vacation, a wild and crazy vacation, do I go with my family or my friends? I had to make this decision, and what I decided was to go with both family and friends on a wild and crazy vacation to Cancun. I chose this so that I could be with everyone I wanted to spend time with in a city that had everything you could possibly want to do.

While in Cancun, I had many fun experiences with friends, from meeting people who go to the same university as I do to swimming in the pool and seeing Steve Aoki having his picture taken. We went to foam parties during the day and at night. We even conquered a club that held 7,000 people. I made stories with friends that we will be telling for years and lost sleep that I will be making up the next few days. Cancun was the best decision for my spring break.

One of the biggest attractions that Cancun possesses for college kids is the nightlife. There is a strip of many different night clubs that meet any spring breaker's expectations. Some of the ones that I enjoyed going to were Senor Frogs, The City, Coco Bongo, and Mandela's. Each club is tremendously different. Senor Frogs is for someone who is laid back and enjoys the unexpected. They have many waiters there that enjoy pranking the visitors as well as playing games on stage with them. Not only are there games, but there are multiple bars and hours of endless dancing.

The City is one of the largest night clubs holding thousands of party goers on multiple levels. This isn't exactly the safest club but it's a very cool experience to have if you enjoy meeting hundreds of people in one night while watching a big name artist such as Two Chainz or Steve Aoki perform. Coco Bongo is more of a disco and a show than a nightclub but is still very entertaining as you watch different movies and music videos reenacted on stage. Lastly Mandela's is more of the traditional night club with a twist. It has a portion of the club on the beach, as well as a pool out back for all the club goers to cool off in.

Aside from the nightlife there is also a lot to do during the day there. You can visit different hotels such as the Hard Rock Hotel (for foam parties in the pool and various contests) or the Oasis (for a giant parties full of stumbling college students on the beach and by the pool — constantly). Either hotel is sure to be entertaining and full of good times. You can also visit one of the various natural water parks. One of the most highly recommended ones is Xel-Ha, which I visited a few years ago. It has cliff diving, zip lining, and even exotic animals to pet and feed that run wild. You can go jet skiing, parasailing, get your hair braided, or simply meet other college students while just lying on the beach. You may not want to do too much during the day so that you can save your energy for the parties at night.

If you want a vacation full of hilarious stories and bonding between friends Cancun is by far the best place to go. You will never experience a boring moment.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
