With the airing of the 59th annual Grammy's this past Sunday night, it got me thinking about all of the talented and award-winning actors, actresses and artists that made the stage.
I've noticed that it's a rarity to see a singer or an actor actually win a Grammy based off of talent and success rather than solely popularity or money.
I'm sure most of you have an idea of who I'm talking about in regard to true and pure talent-- Chance The Rapper.
Now, I've been a fan of Chance for a while now and I've always known his capabilities to go places in the music industry. However, this topic in particular has sparked my sudden interest because I saw a tweet during the Grammy's that read, "Chance The Rapper is living proof that talent can propel you so much farther than money can."
This is so relevant to today's society because of the unlikelihood to see wholesome and original content these days. While some artists were given natural talent, others have to work their whole lives to be where they are today.
One things for sure, though-- talent does not come often, especially in today's pop culture.
We are often so focused on the fame and money that we really don't look at the true talent of an individual. We are focused on who can be different enough to stand out. Talent is so rare these days and we often overlook it.
I wish more people could realize the importance of talent and the power it has to bring you places. And in Chance The Rapper's case, it brought him home with three Grammy's.
We should all take the time to appreciate talent for what it is and look at it in its unique light.
Money will always weigh a heavy factor for a ticket to fame, but talent is something that can never grow old, especially in the music industry.
Congrats, Chance-- you did it.
