I have always had a fascination with abandoned places. The mystery and the stories that the places hold, seem to draw me in. I recently did a search on abandoned places in Georgia, coming up with the Greenleaf Subdivision outside Dawsonville, Georgia. From my research, this subdivisions development was put on hold indefinitely when it was found to be a mortgage fraud scheme. The houses were then found to be inhabitable due to infrastructure issues. These house were left incomplete and to the mercy of vandals and copper thieves from 2006-2016. For 10 years this place was left to its own devices until demolition. My question is, could these properties been salvaged or sold to someone to fix? This could have been a great place for The Walking Dead to be filmed. It was secluded and had an air of mystery surrounding it.
It is my goal to one day find a solution for abandoned places such as this. In my opinion, at least two or three houses could have been saved and used as a Women's Shelter, Group Home, or even a Bed and Breakfast. To see once beautiful houses go to waste and be torn down is saddening. Below is a video from The Proper Guys Youtube Channel in which they explore this subdivision before it was demolished.
