When Derrick Rose was traded from the Chicago Bulls to the New York Knicks, it shocked a lot of people. The Chicago native was cast as the savior of Bulls basketball but five years and two major knee injuries removed from his MVP season, he looked like a shell of his former self.
Now as a member of the Knicks, Rose has a fresh start to prove everyone wrong and in the process has said some pretty outlandish things. His first statement came towards the end of July when he compared the Knicks to the Golden State Warriors.
While literally no one but Rose had or has called the Knicks a super team or compared them to the Golden State Warriors (who now boast two former MVP's in their prime after going 72-9 last season), it is clear that he is trying to hype up his new team and situation.
The hype train kept on rolling during a recent interview with Yahoo's The Vertical. During a discussion that was about his latest Adidas signature shoe, Rose had this to say:
"I feel like I'm not done," Rose said. "It's a new start. I feel rejuvenated, and when you put all that together, when I step on the floor, I really don't know what to expect. What I'm doing right now is just preparing myself for something big. I think we have a chance to win every game, and in the league, that's rare."
Rose's comments sent off a shockwave of reactions on Twitter. Some took the quote for what it was, others read into it a little deeper:

Such a weird feeling for Derrick Rose to say something dumb and not immediately have to jump into the Spin Zone.

The thought that this Knicks team could run the table and go 82-0 is laughable, but that isn't what Rose said. The NBA season is a long one. If players started to count themselves out before August, it'll make for a long and grinding season. All Rose is trying to say is that he feels, with the talent on the roster, they have a shot to beat anyone on any given night.
While chances are the Knicks will win maybe half of their games, you have to admire Rose's confidence. After all the injuries, let downs, and being traded from your hometown team he is still here and still trying to be the best player he can be. Who knows, maybe the Knicks will make a big splash this season? (But don't hold your breath)
