Calling All Girls

"You are strong, you are loved, you are more than enough. You are perfectly you." -Chelsea Musick

Calling All Girls

A couple years ago I had the opportunity to meet an amazing woman. She inspired me to always stay true to who I am. Chelsea Musick is an artist who has a story to share. She understands the hardships that all young females go through. That want to have the perfect skin, the “ideal” body, pretty hair. At some point in time all young women find themselves struggling with these wants. Not realizing that outer beauty has no effect on the life they can lead. Beauty comes from the inside. Trying to achieve all these outward attributes can turn quite dangerous. The extents that individuals will go to in hopes to be who others think they should is scary. The younger you realize that you were made perfect the way you are, the more comfortable and confident you will walk through life. I highly suggest watching Chelsea’s video on the story behind one of her songs called “Perfectly You.”

Being able to sit down with Chelsea and listen to her journey from where she started and where she is now is incredible. I too find myself having days where I wish the most minuscule "problems" were gone. Trying different techniques to be this ideal human being. During these times, I make sure to go and listen to some of Chelsea's songs, especially this one. The chorus is so powerful stating,

"Everybody has flaws
We all can't get it right
Who are they to judge
'Cause all I hear are lies."

If we live each day wondering what the people around us think, we lose sight of the things that matter in life. Right now our world is going through some struggles with this very situation. Judging one another instead of loving one another. Nobody else has the ability to tell you who you are or who you are not. That is up to you. God has given you this life because he loves you. We each have been placed on this Earth for a purpose and I can tell you that it is not to harm one another.

Just think what the world, the state you live in, your town, or even where you work or go to school could be like if we spent more time building each other up. Focusing on the things that matter. Leaving petty issues to the side. Finding the inner beauty to work cohesively as a team.

I had the opportunity to meet Chelsea Musick at the end of my Sophomore year in high school and boy was that perfect timing. That is a big growing period in a young woman's life. Every word she spoke was genuine and passionate. I latched on to those words and took them with me for the rest of my life. I began to focus on my actions and how I could inspire others to be true to who they are as well. She showed me how to focus on inner beauty. Since that day, I have been able to be happy with who I am and how I look. There will always be people in your life who try to knock you down. Take this with you, as I did with me.

"You are strong You are loved You are more than enough
You are Perfectly You."

Special thank you to Chelsea Musick for making that trip to Ohio years ago. You have helped me through life in ways that you probably did not know. Your positive attitude and faith are indescribable.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
