Psych has been my favorite show ever since my brother introduced it to me when I was in middle school. Since then, I've watched every episode at least four times. Sadly, not many people I know share my love for this comedic masterpiece. But those of you who do share this interest with me know the impact it can have.

Whenever I'm down or upset by one of the many curveballs life likes to constantly throw my way, Psych is an outlet for me, a time to laugh and decompress a little. After one, short forty-minute episode, my mood has made a complete 180, allowing me to smile and face my problems head-on. That is what makes Psych, in my opinion, the best television series to exist.

Every single character in the show is well-developed and impossible to dislike. What attracts you to the show? Is it Gus's sympathetic crying? Is it Lassie's unwavering desire to beat Shawn? Keep reading to discover what your favorite character says about your personality and lifestyle.

Shawn Spencer

If Shawn is your favorite Psych character, you are most likely the funny one in your friend group with the best sense of humor. You desire freedom and make your own rules. You're a free spirit that refuses to be confined by societal norms. You don't care what other people think of you and never change who you are just too please others. Although you are smart and cunning, you often make rash, impulsive decisions, many of which get you into unpleasant situations. My advice for you is to stay goofy and never let those around you bring you down.

Burton Guster

If Gus is your favorite character, you're intelligent, realistic, and level-headed. Your empathy makes you a loyal, trust-worthy friend. You're incredibly dedicated to everything you are involved in, which can be exhausting for you. This overpowering dedication sprouts from your fear of disappointing those around you. You're undoubtedly an overthinker, so remember to periodically take a break and take time to relax your busy mind.

Juliet O'Hara

If Juliet is your favorite character, you're strong and independent. You greatly value honesty and don't trust easily. Because of this, you have difficulty forgiving those who have wronged you in the past. Although you are open-minded and willing to consider other perspectives, you have firm beliefs that you are not afraid to express. You are most likely the innocent one in your friend group. You are selfless and an overall great person. You are only responsible for your own happiness, so don't feel pressured to always put others' needs before your own.

Carlton Lassiter

If Lassie is your favorite character, you're strong-willed and confident. You have very strong opinions and rarely change your mind. Your weaknesses include stubbornness and close-mindedness. However, you are exceptionally motivated and hard-working. You are respected by those around you because of your accomplishments and dedication. Most would consider you to be traditional and relatable. You are incredibly competitive and always complete your tasks to the best of your ability. Even though it's hard for you to open up to people, let the people you trust see past your hard exterior every once in awhile.

Henry Spencer

If Henry is your favorite character, you're hard-working and headstrong. You don't have a bubbly personality and don't make friends easily, but those who get to know you will realize you're a protective, loyal friend. You're introverted and are a total homebody. Although you can be brutally honest at times, people take what you say seriously and usually trust your judgement. Be careful, your fear of showing emotion could lead you to a lonely, isolated life.

Karen Vick

If Chief Vick is your favorite character, you are caring and empathetic. Although you don't always show it, you care very much for those in your life and hope the best for them. You're most likely the mom of your friend group who takes care of everyone else. You are a strong and powerful leader who is loved by everyone you meet. People look up to you as a responsible person with direction. You are not easily shaken by inconveniences and you are not easily persuaded. You rarely stray away from your rigid, daily routine, but don't be afraid to take a risk or loosen up every once in a while.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
