It has been time for us to stand up for a while now, but we can't afford to sit in the shadows any longer. Our nation has fallen in darkness and we are the light that needs to shine. This darkness has come from matters of the heart and it all comes down to one three letter-word: sin.
The tragedies that have happened in America over the past few months are heartbreaking. After each of these horrible events, people start pointing fingers at whoever or whatever they think is at fault. I am asking that we all stop pointing fingers and start fighting against the true darkness in this world.
We need to stop hiding behind our phones and titles to spread hate and start spreading love. Not just any love, but the love of Jesus. The one who humbled himself to come to earth, showed His love to every man and woman He met no matter who they were or what they had done and then gave His life for those same people.
"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another."(1 John 4:10-11 KJV)
This love excludes no one. This is the love we need to show. This is the news we need to share to the world. This is the light we need to shine.
This is not a call for us to go and pray in our churches. While that would help, we need more than that. This world needs a revival that can only come from believers on fire for God going out into the world and sharing his news and love. This is what Jesus called us to do in the Great Commission when He said, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:19-20 KJV).
I know that this is scary. What will they say? How will they treat me when they find out I am a follower of Christ? We can't let this hold us back any longer. We must find our strength in Christ and overcome these fears. We must proclaim just like Paul that we are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16 KJV)
This is not the time to be idle or to dwell on the darkness in this world, but rather a time to move and dwell on the blessings that can only come from above.
Dear fellow believer, it is time to fight with love and the gospel of Christ. It is time to fight for what we believe in and it is time to fight for the souls of the lost. This is the only way to fight the darkness -- with the light of Christ.
