"I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:1-3).
You have a calling. A calling to be all that you are created to be. A call to walk towards, walk with, and walk purposefully to our Savior. A call to embrace the gifts that the Spirit has designed us with and use them towards the glorification of God.
I say this because sometimes I am a coward. I shrug off the gifts that God has given me and think to myself, "Someone else will step up and do it." Or, I dismiss an opportune moment to share my heart for the gospel because I think "I wouldn't want to make them uncomfortable." Or even, I let sin win and make me believe that God could not use me to glorify him.
That is so far from the truth.
"For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not may were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are" (1 Corinthians 1:26-28).
Your calling is one of magnifying our Creator. YOU WERE FREED to do the very thing that can bring us the fullest of joys! Your calling is to lean into those moments of discomfort and to find opportunities of grace, love and mercy.
Your call is to be all that you are created to be.
Your call is one of growth, love, and freedom.
A call to shake up this world full of darkness and be light! A call to bring hope to hopeless situations. A call to wake up everyday living your life for the One who created that very day.
So friend, live into your calling.
You are called to be everything that you are created to be.
