We Are On Fire

California has been going through a lot lately with these wildfires. They just worsen and not only currently but for the last couple of years they've increased numerously. Climate change is responsible for the increase in wildfire disasters. The air quality also worsens due to this and people are affected. Unfortunately, for the last couple of weeks, the air quality in the bay area has increased in numbers to very unhealthy to unhealthy to very unhealthy again.

My lungs cannot take all this smoke in the air but I have to still attend school since classes are still in session. I am sorry but this is exhausting. I know some of my friends are sick and some that have asthma and they still have to attend school because of classes. A reminder that the bay area is not flat terrain. There are hills and stairs and consequences to this when the air quality is unhealthy. Specifically speaking at the University of San Francisco where students and professors have to go up Lone Mountain for classes or to there dorms is draining. Also, let us not forget about the smaller hill behind the Gym, near the Hayes-Healy and Gilson dorms called Cardiac Hill for a reason. Last week students were having a hard time breathing, why make them go back to school again without any recovery?

People here are having a hard time to breathe, just imagine the hardships people are facing when closer to these wildfires. Homes being burnt down and landscapes being destroyed by these wildfires. This is just insanity. People also getting sick and having shortness of breath constantly should not become a norm.

Global warming is really telling us something and we continue to worsen things involving our environment. Water shortages and droughts are just a few factors of climate change and global warming. Obviously, wildfires being the major consequence in California as well.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
